With the announcement of iOS 5 by Apple at WWDC 2011, jailbreakers and unlockers have the most questions now! MuscleNerd has successfully jailbroken iOS 5 using the limera1n exploit. There hasn’t been ultrasn0w unlock for 02.10.04 and latter basebands. GEVEY is the only unlock available for these later basebands.
Update: GEVEY Sim Works on Apple iOS 5 [Video]
Now the question arises whether GEVEY sim will work on iOS 5. iOS 5 Beta 1 has baseband 04.11.04. And, Dill Huang (@DillADH) has mentioned in his tweet that 112 TMSI Exploit works with iOS 5 Beta 1.
So, if you’re a developer and have access to Apple’s Developer Center, you can try GEVEY Sim or GEVEY Pro on iOS 5 Beta 1. The procedure for using GEVEY sim or GEVEY Pro will remain the same (dial 112, activate Airplane, etc). Also, GEVEY Supreme Pro Plus may work with iOS 5. GEVEY Supreme Pro Plus provides untethered unlock for iPhone 4.
Update: Here’s a screenshot of Settings app which shows that the iPhone 4 is on iOS 5 build 9A5220p. The model is MC318LL which is an AT&T locked iPhone 4. This iPhone 4 is unlocked using GEVEY Sim. Thanks to @ip4ndu_ for providing the screenshots.

Can we preserve baseband (ex. 03.10.01) while upgrading to iOS5?
thank you,
No. Baseband Preservation is not possible right now. It’ll be possible after final release of iOS 5 when the iPhone Dev Team releases Sn0wbreeze & PwnageTool.
Yes u can preserve baseband using snowbreeze to make a custom ispw
I updated my iphone 4 to iOS 5 but i cant use the gevey anymore. my iphone have the modem firmware 04.11.08. do you know if I can still use the gevey in my iphone?
Did you directly upgrade to iOS 5 without using sn0wbreeze? If yes, then you won’t be able to use Gevey because you upgraded the baseband also.
i updated it with itunes.
do u know if i change back to 4.3.5?
You can go back to 4.3.5 if you’ve shsh of 4.3.5. But even if you downgrade to 4.3.5, it won’t downgrade the baseband. You can’t use Gevey even if you downgrade to 4.3.5 via saved shsh blobs. Unfortunately, you’re now stuck with a locked iPhone 4.
okay. thank you.
